It's been awhile since I posted anything here. Although over the last few years I haven't been doing much of anything visually creative until more recently, I figured I'd post some of the stuff I've done since 2016.

It appears I didn't really do anything in 2017, and it wasn't until 2018 when I drew/painted the below picture based on a reference photo I found online (unfortunately I don't think I kept the photo, so not sure who the photographer was). I did however record a time-lapse of the process of creating the picture.

That's all I got for this.

I haven't been drawing much at all over the last few months, so I've started getting back into it lately. Based on the following reference material here. Wanted to do something cheerful with vibrant colour.

Had a hankering to do some drawing over the weekend although I had been dealing with eye strain and headaches over the last few days. The reference photo that this was based on can be found here by photographer Michael Tarasov. Check out his gallery.

Warrior (Digital Painting)

This piece was a commission that I began back around the middle of 2015, however due to my other workloads and commitments, I only got around to finishing it off around the start of 2016. The brief was to paint my client as a Spartan warrior. The planned output was for a canvas print with the dimensions of 600mm x 1000mm.

After sitting down and discussing the initial idea with the client, I was able to collect some reference images and go away to do additional research into Spartan warriors and sketch up a few concepts. Once a particular concept was settled upon, I was able to dive right into my process which was to flesh out the initial sketch and create a black and white version before eventually moving onto colouring and finalising.

Although the process had taken longer than I would have liked, it was an enjoyable experience with some great learning along the way in terms of improvements to my process. And of course, it's all worth while when the client is happy with the results!
